Sailing Made Easy is the first step in a voyage that will last you the rest of your life. It is a gift from a group of dedicated sailing professionals who have committed their lives to sharing their art, their skill, and their passion for this wonderful activity.
This book, which Sailing Magazine called "best in class" upon its release, is the most comprehensive education and boating safety learn-to-sail guide to date. It is also the official textbook for the ASA Basic Keelboat Standard (ASA 101). Incorporated in the textbook are useful illustrations and exceptional photographs of complex sailing concepts. The text’s most distinguishing feature is its user friendly "spreads" in which instructional topics are self-contained on opposing pages throughout the book. There are also chapter end quizzes and a glossary to help those new to sailing to navigate their way through the extensive nautical terminology.

Sailing Made Easy
My wife and recently spent two years completing the Great Loop on a trawler. but while I learned to sail when I was a kid (shortly after the last ice age), my wife has sailed. I bought her this book as a prelude to taking the 101 class and first read it myself, and I find it to be the best written teaching material I've perhaps ever read. Introducing terms, clearly explaining them, working students through more and more complex concepts...this book does it all incredibly well. (I even learned more than a few things myself!) I would highly recommend this book to anyone learning - or even considering learning - sailing.

Sailing Made Easy
I have owed a couple of keel boats in New Zealand, being a practical person I just did a bit of reading a few instructions from previous owners and away I went. Spent time on the water before that just not in a sail boat. That was 25 years ago I am now looking at buying another boat for costal sailing. This book is a great start to get going again, brush up on terms and learn how things are done in the USA. Getting excited reading as it's bringing me closer to the next purchase.

Sailing Made Easy
Text is very easy to read and understand. I thoroughly read the book prior to my ASA 101 class. I easily got through the first day of classroom instruction by lunch and got on the water after lunch. The information in the book built on my prior experience sailing smaller boats. Even though it had been several years since my hand was on a tiller the book and the course got me right into the zone. I easily passed the written exam and with the instructors guidance and expertise I was able to get through the practical portion confidently. I took the Asa 101 course at Keylime sailing school in key largo Florida. Highly recommended the school as well.
